Net neutrality is the concept that has fostered a strong democratic spirit throughout the internet. It is key to ensuring freedom of speech, press, and association on the internet. Some ISPs and media companies are pushing against net neutrality, only because they want to reap unwarranted profits! There are no benefits to consumers and most businesses if the principle of net neutrality is not upheld!

Competition and innovation on the internet could practically flat line if net neutrality is not codified as law. Allowing anti-net neutrality legislation is tantamount to government-sponsored monopolistic practices.

Petition to Congress on net neutrality legislation

Dear Honorable Members of Congress:

The individual citizens of the United States who have signed this petition are in support of legislation and/or FCC regulation for full net neutrality, and are opposed to any measures which may reduce the openness and freedom of internet communication.

While this is an open petition to ensure the endurance of net neutrality principles, it is also in specific opposition to the S.1836 "Internet Freedom Act" bill, proposed by Senator John McCain (R-AZ). Likewise, this petition is in support of the pro-net neutrality bill HR.2458 "Internet Freedom Preservation Act", proposed by Representative Edward Markey (D-MA).

The success of the internet in the United States and internationally can be attributed to open access and networks. Please support net neutrality now and in the future. Sincerely, Your constituents
